<p>The origins of mass spectrometry in the Czech Republic date back to the <strong>1950s</strong> when <strong>the first mass spectrometer was built</strong>. Despite the post-war shortage and considerable international isolation of socialist Czechoslovakia, the device was successfully completed and used in the newly founded <strong>Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences</strong>. Later, commercial instruments started to appear. Mass spectrometry became increasingly important and the community started to grow. Since 1985, summer courses <strong>&quot;School of Mass Spectrometry&quot;</strong> have been organized regularly. The number of participants in this popular annual one-week event is now <strong>over two hundred</strong>. <strong>National scientific conferences on mass spectrometry</strong> have been organized biennially since 2011. Mass spectrometry has become a very important and widely used technique for research and industry.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.ms-museum.org/"><strong>The Czech Mass Spectrometry Museum</strong></a> has been established at <strong>the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS</strong> in Prague. The museum aims to collect and display <strong>artifacts related to mass spectrometry</strong>, especially those associated with the local geographical region. The technical museum mostly shows the key <strong>components of mass spectrometers</strong> used in the past and in contemporary laboratory practice. It also collects and displays <strong>historical documents</strong>, <strong>photographs</strong>, <strong>books</strong>, etc. The museum&#39;s mission is expressed in two words: <strong>education</strong> and <strong>inspiration</strong>. It demonstrates technologies hidden behind the cover and inside the vacuum systems, thus allowing a better understanding of how the mass spectrometers actually work. Displayed technical solutions, prototypes, ideas, and stories can be inspiring for students, scientists, as well as instrument designers.</p>

Prague Meeting on Historical Perspectives of Mass Spectrometry - Early registration!

<h3><strong>Training Scenarios</strong></h3>
<p>Also in reality for GC &amp; GC/MS training most trainees are at completely different levels of ability and experience in relation to aspects of the technique, instruments, software.</p>
<p>In addition, certain industries and markets have unique instrument techniques, configurations and applications that require different knowledge that a general GC analyst may have no or at best, limited experience in that area.</p>
<h3><strong>Traditional Training</strong></h3>
<p>Traditional training often occurs sporadically and is usually attending off site with traditional lectures and presentations. </p>
<p>As there are a wide range of GC &amp; GC/MS sample preparation techniques, injectors, columns, detectors and software often you just get a overall simple overview of the theory behind each with limited hands on experience or time to ask questions. </p>
<p>You will probably have to attend a separate courses for troubleshooting, software or method development. This is basically logistically impossible to achieve when attending separate generic courses from different training providers attempting to cover attendees from different companies and areas of interest. </p>
<p>What is really required is a bespoke detailed program around your instrument, application/market segment and most importantly the individual(s). Also, there is a logical optimal scheduled timing and pathway to increase your relative productivity.</p>

<p>There are disadvantages such as unfounded IT fears (typically in larger organizations) and  the personal interaction is not quite the same however as the training is carried out remotely with a maximum of 4 people, the impact is minimal compared with the advantages. However there are few companies supplying a cost effective bespoke training solutions and services around your specific situation. </p>
