Thermo Scientific ITEX Dynamic Headspace Tool

The Thermo Scientific™ ITEX Dynamic Headspace Tool is an autosampler accessory for the TriPlus™ RSH and TriPlus RSH SMART Autosamplers designed for the enrichment of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using dynamic headspace technology. It enables ppt-level sensitivity and allows sample enrichment to be easily integrated into an automated gas chromatography (GC) workflow.

  • The ITEX-DHS technique uses a gas-tight syringe to collect the headspace and a microtrap inside the syringe needle to efficiently trap and concentrate VOCs through repeated syringe strokes. 
  • Sensitivity can be scaled according to the number of strokes, making the method suitable for both low- and high-concentration samples. 
  • The system is designed for easy method set-up with only a few parameters, simple access to the trap, and excellent robustness for long-term operation. 
  • A closed system removes any risk of breakthrough. 
  • Independent trap desorption temperature and flow control maximize desorption efficiency without affecting GC inlet settings. 
  • When used with the TriPlus RSH SMART autosampler, the SMART gas-tight syringe enables automatic usage traceability. 
  • The entire automated workflow can be fully controlled through Thermo Scientific™ Chromeleon™ CDS.

For VOC analysis in many liquid and solid samples, ITEX offers a valuable alternative to classical enrichment techniques by combining ease of use with robust performance.
