The construction of the Bohunice campus cost over five billion CZK and lasted almost six years. State-of-the-art laboratories now serve future doctors and biologists.

In terms of sustainability, we are the highest ranked Czech university. In the global QS WUR ranking we are ranked 161st in the Sustainability indicator. We behave responsibly towards the planet and think about future generations.

CEITEC is a centre of scientific excellence in the field of life sciences, advanced materials and technologies. Nearly 500 experts from a diverse range of disciplines are involved in research which will affect our lives in the future.

We left our scientists out in the cold

We established a research station in Antarctica

Founded on James Ross Island by polar explorer Pavel Prošek, the university station bears the name of Gregor Johann Mendel, the father of modern genetics. Thanks to research conducted at the station, the Czech Republic has been a voting member of the Antarctic Treaty System since 2007.

We bridge gaps and connect countries

Thanks to the Erasmus programme alone, over 1,000 of our students discover the world every year.

We are an internationally recognized research institution and the best loved university in the Czech Republic among incoming foreign students. We actively participate in a wide range of study projects in Europe and beyond. While our students travel to the four corners of the world, incoming internationals from all over the world explore the city of Brno.

We live in a digital age

Study materials and courses are available online.

Entrance applications, course registration, scheduling – all study-related paperwork has been replaced with electronic solutions. We are also dedicated to developing e-learning. Our students have access to 70,000 educational videos and over 5,000 multimedia materials.

We share the knowledge

Each year we publish 400 books and issue over 50 journals and student magazines. 

Masaryk University Press is among the most active publishers of scholarly and scientific literature in the Czech Republic. Publishing activities are overseen by the editorial board, which monitors developments in all key academic disciplines.

Hundreds of students with sensory impairments or limited mobility are enrolled at MU. We operate a Braille publishing house as well as a specialized centre named Teiresiás, which has been dedicated to helping special needs students for years. The university also provides bursaries for students in difficult social conditions.

We have even developed software capable of detecting plagiarism

All Bachelor’s and Master’s theses are available online thanks to a university-wide set of study regulations. Scheduling courses is easy thanks to the absence of barriers between individual faculties.

Our Radio R broadcasts for students and the public. The university libraries and museum are warming up. In addition to science and research, we care about life and events around us.
