SelectScience: Evaluating the authenticity of brand perfumes using GC×GC–TOF MS

In recent years, there has been a substantial rise in the number of counterfeit and imitation fragrances on the market that are sold at significantly lower prices compared to the luxury brands. The packaging of such products is often so similar to the known brands that consumers may be unable to distinguish between the genuine and fake goods.

It is therefore important to have confident quality and authenticity testing, to ensure consumers do not receive an inferior product, to protect brand reputation and minimize loss of revenues.

Attend this webinar to learn about:

  • The value of GC×GC for fragrance profiling and how the addition of mass spectrometry provides deeper insights into sample composition, ensuring you do not miss any compound of relevance

  • How Tandem Ionisation® can be used to improve confidence in isomer identification and enhance discovery-based workflows

  • How smart software workflows can make use of all the raw data to automatically uncover the subtle differences between brand and imitation fragrances.

Presenter: Dr. Laura McGregor (Product Marketing Manager, SepSolve Analytical)

Laura’s background is in analytical forensic science, and her Ph.D. which she received from the University of Strathclyde, focused on the chemical fingerprinting of environmental contamination using GC×GC-TOF MS. Following roles in application support and product marketing for Markes International’s TOF MS and software portfolios, she joined SepSolve in October 2017, where she oversees marketing activities across the full product range.

Presenter: Ed Carter (Editorial Team, SelectScience)
