Agilent Technologies: Becoming a Better Chromatographer

The separation of compounds with very high vapor pressure (e.g., permanent gases, light hydrocarbons) can either be performed on polysiloxane liquid phases under cryogenic conditions or with PLOT columns.

PLOT (Porous Layer Open Tubular) columns offer a the more convenient alternative, mainly because they can be operated at above ambient GC oven conditions.

PLOT columns are based on porous particles that are fixated to the inner wall of the capillary tubing and compounds are separated based on their difference in surface interactions with the solid stationary phase.

In this webinar we will cover the principles of PLOT separations and discuss an array of separations including permanent gases, light hydrocarbon isomers, sulfur compounds and oxygenates on Agilent’s comprehensive portfolio of PLOT columns.

Presenter: Johan Kuipers (GC Specialist, Training & Development, BSc Analytical Chemistry, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

Johan Kuipers Is a GC specialist who has been involved in the development PLOT columns and design of dedicated analyzers for the petrochemical industry. He also has provided global customer support for GC and LC applications across various markets. In his current role as a trainer, he is responsible for developing sales and technical learning on the chromatography and spectroscopy chemistries and supplies portfolios for Agilent’s application engineers, field sales organizations and distribution channels.
