SelectScience: Simplify life in the lab with the new 8697 Headspace Sampler

The new 8697 Headspace Sampler is the first Agilent headspace sampler to have integrated communication with the Agilent 8890, 8860, and Intuvo 9000 GCs. With its 48-vial capacity over two removable racks, it is considered ideal for those customers wanting to run a full day or night’s worth of samples. Integrated intelligence with the Agilent GCs means a true system approach to GC analysis, promising a smoother GC workflow. This allows you to get the results you need when, and where, you need them.

The analysis of residual solvents in the pharmaceutical industry is one example of when this is required. These volatile organic compounds are typically essential to the production of pharmaceuticals but are unwanted in the final products. USP <467> defines the acceptable limits of these residual solvents, classifies them into three categories, and provides procedures for their analysis.

In this expert webinar, Cassie Eisele and Abbey Fausett, from Agilent Technologies, will present the new hardware and discuss the instrument intelligence features released with this instrument. They will also explore two application notes using the new 8697 headspace sampler for USP <467> residual solvents and blood alcohol analysis.

Learning outcomes:

Learn about the key features of the new Agilent 8697 headspace sampler and discover two key headspace methods:

  • Residual solvent analysis
  • Blood alcohol analysis

Presenter: Cassie Eisele (GC Sample Introduction Product Manager, Agilent)

Cassie Eisele started with Agilent in 2009, after finishing her degree in biomedical engineering at Cornell University. For the first five years of her career, Cassie was doing technical support, walking customers through fixing their hardware and software so they could get back to their analysis.Since then, Cassie has been the GC Sample Introduction Product Manager. She has helped introduce new products and managed the product lineglobally to ensure the instruments are meeting customers’ needs.

Presenter: Abbey Fausett (GC Applications Chemist, Agilent)

Abbey Fausett is an application chemist within Agilent’s Gas Phase Separation Division, located in Wilmington, Delaware. Prior to coming on board with Agilent, she worked as a methods chemist for the US Army in several locations, developing and validating analytical methods for material permeability, air sampling, and dispersion pattern experiments using military threat compounds and simulants.
