Metrohm: Full-Spectrum Raman for Research, Development, and Process Understanding

Modern analytical and R&D teams need to do more than quantify a single parameter or identify a problem; they need direct chemical insight. Raman spectroscopy uniquely reveals functional groups, identifies materials, and quantifies real‑time chemical changes, making it a powerful complement to traditional analytical tools. In this webinar, we introduce the next‑generation Metrohm i‑Raman NxG and the i‑Raman Duo, advanced benchtop Raman systems that bring molecular‑level clarity to excipients, APIs, polymers, formulated products, and reaction-monitoring environments.

Attendees will learn how different Raman wavelengths and sampling interfaces provide insights into chemical, pharmaceutical, biological, and materials applications with real-world examples that illustrate the possibilities form discovery to scale-up. We will demonstrate how full-spectrum coverage with the i-Raman Duo extends measurement capability into the high‑wavenumber CH/NH/OH stretching region, expanding what can be monitored, modeled, and understood with a single instrument.

Finally, this session will introduce how the new SpecSuite software streamlines exploration work, chemometric method development, and routine deployment in a single 21 CFR-Part 11 ready environment. Whether you’re developing a new process, formulating new chemistry, doing fundamental research, or just wanting to simplify a routine analysis, this session will show how Metrohm’s evolving Raman portfolio delivers deeper insight, greater flexibility, and a more intuitive path from research to routine to process.

Who Should Attend?

  • Researchers working with APIs, excipients, polymers, catalysts, or complex mixtures
  • Scientists tracking hydration, functional groups, or structural change
  • Teams performing reaction monitoring or materials characterization
  • Analysts exploring Raman beyond basic identification
  • Labs evaluating Raman as a complement to NIR, IR, or wet chemistry

Key Learning Points

  • How next‑generation Raman reveals deeper chemical insight
  • What the Duo adds to the NxG
  • Using Raman for reactions, formulations, and kinetics
  • How SpecSuite connects R&D → Routine

Presenter: Dr. Adam J. Hopkins (Spectroscopy Product Manager, Metrohm USA)

Dr. Adam J. Hopkins is the Spectroscopy Product Manager for handheld and laboratory instruments at Metrohm USA since 2016. He has a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Oregon where he studied nonlinear optical spectroscopy under Geraldine Richmond. Between graduate school and Metrohm, Adam worked developing spectroscopic solutions for standoff and noncontact sensing applications using LIBS, Raman, and other novel techniques. Dr. Hopkins is a member of the American Chemical Society, Society for Applied Spectroscopy, Coblentz Society, and SPIE. He is the author of over 20 peer-reviewed papers and proceedings and three patents.
