How GC technology and sampling automation support social distancing in the lab maintaining productivity

Forced to reduce people working in the lab? Are you seeing your productivity declining? Struggling to have the instruments serviced promptly? Those are only few of the issues testing laboratories are facing in the current pandemic situation.

Through modularity it is very easy to quickly recover operations in case of unplanned issues with no need of service calls or it is possible to make maintenance off-line with no instrument downtime, reducing the presence in the lab. In the same way, a robotic autosampler can be easily programmed to automate common sample handling operations like calibration set up or standard additions, providing unattended operations and possibility of remote control.

Learning points:

  • Learn how to use GC modularity for quick instrument service
  • Learn how to use GC modularity for off-line maintenance procedures
  • Learn how to program a robotic autosampler for automating common sample handling operations

Who should attend?

  • Public/Governmental testing lab
  • Food industry QA/QC labs
  • Contract Research Laboratories (CRO)

Presenter: Daniela Cavagnino (Product Marketing Manager GC and Sampling Solutions, Thermo Fisher Scientific)

Dr. Daniela Cavagnino received her Masters Degree in Chemistry at the University of Milan, Italy. She started her career in gas chromatography at Thermo Fisher Scientific spending several years in the R&D laboratories working on GC technology innovation. Then, she conveyed her technical background into product management and marketing management roles with more than 15years experience in promoting GC/GCMS technology and applications in several different market segments.

Moderator: Julian Renpenning (Regional Marketing Manager EMEA, Thermo Fisher Scientific)

Dr. Julian Renpenning studied Biotechnology at the Technical University of Berlin and specialized in analytical chemistry and bioprocess engineering. He started his PhD at the Environmental Research in Leipzig, Germany and continued to work as Postdoc career on analytical method development in the field of GC-MS, IRMS and ICP-MS. Since 2019 he is working as Regional Marketing Manager covering GC, GC-MS and IOMS in EMEA.
