Plastic Circularity: Pyrolysis and Workflow Solutions

Plastic waste is a growing environmental and industrial challenge, and chemical recycling through pyrolysis is emerging as a pathway to circularity. By converting mixed or contaminated plastics into liquid hydrocarbons, pyrolysis enables their reuse as feedstocks for fuels and new materials. Ensuring process efficiency and product quality requires robust analytical control.
This session will outline how gas chromatography (GC) solutions support pyrolysis workflows. Topics include characterization of pyrolysis oils, quantification of hydrocarbon fractions, and detection of oxygenates, sulfur, and other contaminants that affect downstream refining. Examples will highlight how analytical testing enables consistent product streams suitable for integration into petrochemical and fuel supply chains.
By linking process monitoring with circular economy goals, the session will demonstrate how GC workflows help advance scalable solutions for plastic waste conversion.
