Agilent Technologies: Triglycerides analysis and ghee adulteration

This live webinar focuses on triglyceride analysis in milk using GC in alignment with ISO 17678:2019 standards and discusses methods for detecting ghee adulteration. Participants will explore the role of carrier gases such as hydrogen, helium, and nitrogen in improving chromatographic performance and sample throughput. Additionally, the session will cover strategies for optimizing GC conditions, including columns and consumables, to achieve reliable results. 

Presenter: Prof. (Dr) J. B. Prajapati (Chairman, Indian Dairy Association (West Zone))

Professor (Dr.) Jashbhai B. Prajapati is a veteran Dairy Professional with 45 years of experience in research, teaching and professional manpower development. He is a technology graduate from Anand and Ph.D from NDRI and retired as Dean of the Faculty of Dairy Science, AAU, Anand. He worked as the Chairman of Verghese Kurien Centre of Excellence at IRMA and now the Chairman of IDA (West Zone). He is Vice President of National Academy of Dairy Science (India) apart from being member in several professional bodies. He is associated with FSSAI, NADSI, NDDB, IDF, Gut microbiota Foundation, SASNET and many other organizations. His core area of research is probiotics and functional dairy foods and he is the first Indian scientist to have deposited and whole genome sequenced two Indian probiotic cultures at IMTech, Chandigarh as the Indian Patent deposits. He is a well-travelled scholar with more than 500 publications.

Presenter: Prof. (Dr.) K.D. Aparnathi (Professor and Head (Retd.), Anand Agricultural University)

Dr. K.D. Aparnathi holds a Ph.D. in Dairy Chemistry from the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal, and has over 36 years of experience in teaching and research. He has guided 36 postgraduate students, including 10 Ph.D. scholars, with two Ph.D. theses receiving the Chancellor’s Gold Medal.

Dr. Aparnathi has published 65 research papers, authored two books, contributed one book chapter, and received several awards, including the Narayan Pandit Award and multiple poster presentation prizes. His significant achievements include developing qualitative tests for milk adulteration adopted by FSSAI, creating FT-IR techniques for detecting foreign fats in ghee, and pioneering low-cost whey utilization methods. He is a member of various prestigious scientific and professional bodies, including the Scientific Panel on Milk & Milk Products (FSSAI) and the Indian Dairy Association (IDA). Dr. Aparnathi has also served on numerous expert committees for academic and scientific advancements in dairy science.

Presenter: Dr. Soma Dasgupta (Application Engineer - GC/MS, Agilent Technologies India Pvt. Ltd.)

With over 17 years of extensive experience in gas chromatography, Dr. Soma has worked across diverse applications of this analytical technique, addressing challenges in sectors ranging from food safety to pharmaceutical analysis. Her academic journey includes a doctorate from the University of Pune, where she focused on developing comprehensive methods for analyzing agrochemicals in fruits and vegetables.

Presenter: Dr. Rajni Mujoo (Technical Support Specialist - CSD, Agilent Technologies India Pvt. Ltd.)

Dr. Rajni has been working with Agilent Technologies as a Technical Support Specialist in the Chemistries and Supplies Division since 2011. She holds a Ph.D. in Food Science from CFTRI, Mysore, and completed her Postdoctoral studies in the Department of Food Science at Michigan State University. Dr. Rajni has an impressive academic record, including four international presentations and 13 publications in renowned national and international journals. With a total of 16 years of experience spanning research and sales, she has developed expertise in various instrumental techniques.
