Presenter: Athanasios Nitsopoulos (Second Managing Director, Labor Friedle GmbH)

Atha is the second managing director of Labor Friedle GmbH, a laboratory that analyzes organic and inorganic contaminants with emphasis on the analysis of pesticides in food. Their passion lies in developing and establishing new analytical methods using GC, LC and ICP and mass spectrometry.

Presenter: Jon Wong, PhD (Senior Research Chemist, U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

Jon received his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Food Chemistry from the University of California, Davis. He was a Chemist at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms before he moved to the FDA in 2002. His primary research interests involve multiresidue analysis of chemical residues and contaminants using gas and liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. In the last few years, he and his collaborator, Jian Wang, of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, have been working on high-resolution mass spectrometry methods for analyzing large numbers of residues and contaminants in food samples.

Presenter: Anastasia Andrianova, PhD (GC/MS Applications Scientist at Agilent Technologies)

Anastasia Andrianova is a GC/MS Applications Scientist in the Mass Spectrometry Division of Agilent Technologies, located in Wilmington, Delaware. She received a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of North Dakota (Grand Forks) and a masters’ degree in analytical chemistry from the Moscow State University (Moscow, Russia). Anastasia has been at Agilent Technologies since 2018. She has authored or co-authored over 30 journal articles and application notes, and 1 patent in the field of analytical chemistry, focusing on chromatography and mass spectrometry. Anastasia is currently working in GC/MS applications in multiple areas with a focus on food and environmental analysis.

Presenter: Sarah King, PhD (Manager of Method Development at Eurofins Central Analytical Laboratory)

Before assuming her managerial position, Sarah spent over a decade as a Method Development Scientist at ECAL, with eight years focused specifically on pesticide analysis in food products. In addition to her extensive experience in pesticide analysis, Sarah has specialized expertise in the analysis of mycotoxins, heavy metals, veterinary drugs, and a wide range of other foodborne contaminants.
