Automated liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) for GC-MS/MS analysis of PAH, OCB and PCB in water samples.

Automation is much more than an autosampler. An automated workflow for priority semivolatile contaminants in water helps laboratories to efficiently handle samples load by saving labor time and reducing costs.

Environmental contaminants remain a constant cause of concern for human health and there is the need for many laboratories to analyze samples in a fast and cost-effective way. Routine testing laboratories look for options to save on solvent costs and to minimize sample preparation time. However, time-saving and cost driven measurements should not compromise the analytical results in terms of sensitivity, robustness, or quality controls.

In this webinar you will learn how the capability of handling automated sample preparation combined with the flexibility of injection modes (such as large volume injections), and sensitivity at ultra-low levels play together to minimize costs and efforts from the laboratory.

Combining the robotic Thermo Scientific TriPlus RSH autosampler capability with highly sensitive Thermo Scientific TSQ 9000 triple quadrupole mass spectrometer configured with the Advanced Electron Ionization (AEI) source, is possible to achieve a full automated workflow for in-vial liquid-liquid extraction and subsequent detection of semi-volatile contaminants at ultra-low levels in water samples.

What you will learn:

  • The benefits of automated sample preparation workflow to reduce costs and increase lab efficiency
  • How to save solvent consumption while reducing solvent exposure for the analysts
  • How to achieve very high level of sensitivity through latest GC-MS/MS technology

Presenter: Gilberto Pintonello (Supervisor of Chromatography Department, Veritas SpA, Italy)

Gilberto has nearly 40 years of experience in GC and GC/MS analysis in VOCs, PAH, pesticides and 5 years in LC/HRMS. He worked in pharmaceutical companies for the analysis of active ingredients and in public companies in environmental investigations and in the drinking water sector.

Currently he coordinates the chromatographic laboratory at Veritas SpA, a service provider in the environmental sector, with particular focus on wastewater and drinking water testing.
