Driven by the urgency of climate change, hydrogen is perceived as a critical solution to pave the way for a low-carbon future. Ideally, green hydrogen produced entirely from renewable energy will serve as a clean and sustainable fuel but other colours of hydrogen, such as blue hydrogen, will also play a key role by facilitating the energy transition toward the Hydrogen Economy.

Shimadzu provides practical solutions for building a feasible hydrogen supply chain, from hydrogen production to transportation and storage.

In this webinar, learn about the different colours of hydrogen, the end-to-end process of a hydrogen supply chain, and how Shimadzu's instruments can help harness the potential of hydrogen as the fuel of the future.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand how Hydrogen Economy plays a critical role toward a low-carbon future
  • Shimadzu's solutions in constructing a feasible hydrogen supply chain

Presenter: Dr. Wong Roong Jien (Research Fellow, Nanyang Technological University)

Roong Jien (RJ) Wong completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2017 under the supervision of Prof Rose Amal at UNSW, Australia. He is currently a Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, with joint affiliation to Cambridge CARES, and has a wide range of experience specialising in heterogeneous catalysis research for renewable energy and environmental remediation, including photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis, thermal catalysis, and photothermal catalysis. RJ has been a Visiting Researcher at the UK Catalysis Hub at Research Complex at Harwell on multiple occasions, including collaboration with Prof Richard Catlow and Dr Emma Gibson to develop a combined in situ XAFS/DRIFTS reactor for high pressure experiments, in particular CO2-to-methanol synthesis. The work involved modification of the current XAFS/DRIFTS reactor system for high pressure applications, which can also be applied in ammonia synthesis or Fischer-Tropsch reactions. RJ is also actively involved in microalgae bioremediation research for circular economy.

Presenter: Dr. Jackie (Assistant Product Manager (GC & GCMS), Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd)

Jackie obtained his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the National University of Singapore, He has garnered over 9 years of research, training, and facilitation experience. Jackie meets scientists from various industries to share technical knowledge and collect feedback, understanding their problems and helping them find well-suited solutions in GC-related analyses.
