C&EN: Analysis of Gas Products from Carbon Dioxide Utilization Technologies by Gas Chromatography

Utilizing carbon dioxide as a feedstock for fuel, plastics, and concrete, among other uses, is one possible route to forming a sustainable recycling system for carbon. Converting CO2 to chemicals and other products, however, requires a challenging reduction reaction.

In this webinar, learn about an efficient multi-dimensional, multi-detector gas chromatography technique to speed CO2 reduction research. The analysis measures hydrogen (H2), oxygen (O2), nitrogen (N2), methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), and C1 through C6 hydrocarbons at a range of detection beyond what is possible with a single detector system. This analysis of CO2 reduction products can be used for electrochemical, photochemical, biochemical, or thermochemical reductions.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Discover the challenges with analyzing CO2 reduction byproducts.
  • Explore why a multi-detector and multi-dimensional GC is required for this analysis.
  • Learn about Agilent’s instrument design characteristics that allow the detection of CO and CO2 and other gasses across a broad range of concentration.

Who Should Attend:

  • Researchers who are interested in monitoring CO2 reduction byproducts
  • Researchers who are interested in low level CO and CO2 and other light gasses across a large range of detection
  • Those who want to learn about the concepts of multi-dimensional valve chromatography should attend.
