Ethylene oxide (EtO) is a gas that can be used as a fumigant on products intended for human consumption in order to reduce bacterial contamination, particularly salmonella. EtO has been banned in the EU since 1991, however in the past year there have been an increasing number of instances where EtO has been found in significant amounts in sesame seeds, E410 (locust bean gum), E412 (guar gum) and finished products such as ice cream, baking goods and jam.

In this webinar, we will share the proven plug and play GC-MS solution for the determination of EtO using a triple quadrupole GC-MS/MS based on the SRM method developed at the CVUA, Stuttgart.

Learning points:

  • The influence of the ion source in GC-MS/MS
  • Regulations for Ethylene Oxide
  • EU-RL Single-Residue method

Who should attend:

  • Food labs in charge of EtO analysis
  • Control labs
  • Regulatory bodies (CVUAs)
