The role
ALS Geochemistry is looking for a Sample Preparer to work in our Sample Preparer section at our facility located in Orange – NSW.
Sample Preparers operate machinery that crushes, splits, and pulverizes mining mineral samples for laboratory analysis. This is a fast-paced, dusty work environment where previous production experience and flexibility with availability would be highly beneficial.
This full-time position will involve working on a Morning Shift roster: Monday to Friday, from 6 am to 2 pm.
Responsibilities include:
Handling rock, core and drill chips
Operating sample preparation equipment – crushers, pulverizes, splitters, and weigh scales
Performing routine manual/labouring tasks, including lifting and being on your feet all-day
Numerical sorting and labelling of samples
Wearing mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator
Working as part of a team to achieve daily production targets
This is a residential role, and you must be residing in or planning to relocate to Orange - NSW with current Australian work rights to be considered.

Have good verbal and writing skills – especially number recognition
Correctly follow instructions and procedures (incl. safety, quality and code of conduct)
Have a high attention to detail

Be willing to work hard while focusing on quality, safety, and productivity
Be willing to work in a dusty, noisy, high/low-temperature environment with dangerous substances
