DIRECTOR OF INFORMATICS - CONNECTED SCIENCE & QA/QC

Job Description

Waters Bangalore are searching for a Director of Informatics!

This role will be involved in providing leadership to the Informatics teams at Waters new Global Capability Centre in Bangalore. Accountable for leading all aspects of Software Development & Engineering, including the development of Empower, Neugensis, WatersConnect, our Cloud Platform and SaaS Development etc.

The role holders overarching responsibility is to ensure that the teams in the Global Capability Centre support the Waters divisions with the vital software development & engineering of their portfolios including; evaluation and testing of that software, cloud development, security operations and providing data analysis capabilities. The role holder will be responsible for building tactical plans for the Waters Divisions the GCC supports.

Responsibilities

Within the role you will be:

  • Accountable for delivering the strategic business initiatives that are linked to Revenue targets in close collaboration with the Business Portfolio Owners as per the initiatives defined by them.

  • Work closely with global leadership to evolve the SaaS road-map making it available to be moved from OnPrem to SaaS, a key project will be moving Empower from an OnPrem platform to Empower as a Service.

  • Transformation from OnPrem to Cloud solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with Infosys and Waters team to build solid foundation for Waters Informatics capability and planning the strategic direction of Informatics at the Global Capability Centre.

  • Ensure cross-value stream coordination and collaboration.

  • Ensure the product road map is established, maintained and tracked effectively by the Product Manager.

  • Ensure knowledge retention and develop a core team of experts with Waters process and development methodologies.

  • Ability to design lab requirements at the GCC locations and execution of building labs.

  • Effectively manage the Lab Manager and Lab Scientists.

  • Execution of alignment across teams to produce and deliver the highest quality products, at a predictable pace and with consistent velocity.

  • Ensure best practice, business-oriented estimation processes are implemented and followed.

  • Ensure software development standards and best practices are being implemented & followed.

  • Plan the effective resource model based on the business priorities in close collaboration with global peers.

The position requires significant interaction with cross-functional departments within a Global Company, collaboration across other technology portfolios, and superb communication and relationship leadership skills to influence and resolve issues.

This leader must be comfortable operating with various levels of the organization and across functions and geographies. The ability to influence leaders to drive change and alignment is critical to our success.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Degree level education from Accredited University, or equivalent, preferably in a Chemistry or Software engineering or Computer Science related subject area.

Experience:

  • Significant experience in IT or Lifesciences or Healthcare industry.

  • Demonstrative experience in Software Engineering & Software Development, Cloud Development, Quality Assurance and Quality Control.

  • Demonstrable experience in an agile environment managing teams.

  • Experience of working in a Strategic and tactical management role.

  • Experience of SaaS or Software product development.

  • Experience building and managing successful and motivated teams through periods of change.
