Laboratory Technician

The day to day

ALS Environmental in Wangara is seeking Laboratory Technicians to join our dynamic team, dedicated to exceeding client expectations by consistently delivering high-quality results on time.

This is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals to work in a supportive environment and contribute to our commitment to excellence.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation and analysis of soil, water, and marine sediment samples for a variety of tests throughout
  • Ensuring that analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with the ALS Quality Work Instructions, including QA/QC
  • Organizing designated tasks to maximize daily efficiencies
  • Completing all tasks and analyses within both the time set down by the supervisor and the relevant analysis standard
  • Highlighting anomalies in results, sample type, and sample behaviour

You will receive on-the-job training in the technical components and procedures of the role.

The role:

  • Full-Time role
  • Monday to Friday (8 hours shift)
  • Morning (8 am to 4 pm) and afternoon (3 pm to 11 pm) shifts available

The essentials

  • A genuine interest in the Science Industry, preferably with a BSc (Chemistry, Environmental Science or similar) or TAFE qualifications in Laboratory Techniques
  • A desire to work in a high-throughput, customer-focused environment, with preference given to those with previous commercial laboratory experience
  • A demonstrated interest or personal hobby in areas such as computer building, circuitry, automation, Excel macros, scripting, or 3D printing
  • Coding or programming capability (e.g. VBA, Python, R, SQL or similar) – desirable but not essential
  • Exposure to or interest in robotics, AI, process automation or digital optimization – desirable but not essential
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • Desire to learn new skills
  • Good communication skills
  • A strong desire to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
