Laboratory Assistant Hiring Event - North Vancouver

About the Event  

We are hiring multiple Laboratory Assistants for our state-of-the-art laboratories in North Vancouver. Apply for an invitation to join our team and play a key role in supporting our high-volume summer operations.

• Initial Screening Call 
  • A brief phone call with a recruiter to discuss your background, availability, and interest in the role. 
• Video Interview Submission 
  • Candidates will be asked to submit a short video responding to a set of pre-recorded questions, allowing us to better understand your communication style and fit for the position.
• Formal Interview - Onsite 
  • Selected candidates will be invited to a virtual or in-person interview with the hiring team to further assess technical skills, experience, and alignment with ALS values. ​
• Offer of Employment 
  • Successful candidates will receive an official offer to join ALS and begin their ALS experience. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Perform sample preparation – filtration, screening, extraction and digestion; 
• Perform instrument/equipment calibration, maintenance and repair as required; 
• Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference materials, etc; 
• Carry out all required data processing (i.e. calculations, data review, data entry, archival, etc.); 
• General laboratory clean-up and maintenance, monitor controlled equipment;  
• Adhere to established methods and protocols to ensure analytical quality. 
• Observe safety regulations and comply with all relevant health and safety policies. 
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager. 

About you: 

• Strong analytical and mechanical skills; 
• Excellent hand eye coordination; 
• Detail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality; 
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team; 
• Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues; 
• Intermediate English communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; 
• Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook; 

Required Qualifications:

• Grade 12 education or equivalent required; 
• Diploma or Degree in Science preferred; 
• Minimum of 3 months laboratory experience in analytical chemistry or related field required. 

Physical Demands: 

• Ability to lift up to 20lbs; 
• Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 7.5 hours per day; 
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.

Our benefits includes: 

• Hourly Range - An estimated hourly pay ranging from $19.78 - $22.23 at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training. 
• Additional shift premiums of $2 per hour for evening shifts and $4 per hour for night shifts, if applicable.  
• Structured wage increases.
