Soil Lab Technician
The Role
ALS Environmental Newcastle is seeking full time, Soil Lab Technician for our dedicated soil team.
The Laboratory Technician will become a part of a team that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time and by maintaining strong relationships with their colleagues and clients.
This role will be Tuesday to Saturday, 7 AM - 3:15 PM with some flexibility.
The Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:
- Preparation and analysis of Soil samples
- No prior experience in a soil laboratory necessary
- Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions
- Completing all tasks within both the timeframe set by the Supervisor and the relevant analysis standard
- Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour
- Some weekend work is required
The Essentials
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
- A genuine interest in the Science industry
- Either TAFE or University qualifications desirable but not essential
- A desire to work in a high-throughput, client-focused environment, with preference given to those with previous commercial laboratory experience
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time management skills
- Dedication to good laboratory practices with regard to quality of results and health and safety
- Flexibility to work varied shifts to cover operational hours
- Willingness to be cross trained in other sections of the laboratory
