We are seeking a GC Analytical Chemist (Principal Scientist) to lead complex research initiatives and drive product innovation within a focused market area of GC analytical chemistry. This role requires both technical depth and a collaborative spirit, as you'll design and execute experiments, support cross-functional teams, engage with customers, and serve as a scientific leader within the organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and evaluate new products in GC and GC Accessories.
  • Design and perform independent research and development of new and existing analytical technologies.
  • Develop and validate new methods, materials, and products using current instrumentation and techniques.
  • Document experimental work thoroughly, including technical reports, product specifications, and instruction sheets.
  • Transfer new methods and products to production, quality control, and other departments—providing training as needed.
  • Collaborate across departments and with customers to identify market needs, troubleshoot challenges, and shape product improvements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing internal and external training and handling complex technical inquiries.
  • Publish technical data and contribute to marketing efforts through articles, white papers, and presentations at conferences.
  • Mentor junior scientists and provide technical guidance within the R&D team.
  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous learning in all lab and production environments.

What You Bring

  • B.S. in Chemistry with 15 years of laboratory experience or Ph.D. with 5 years of laboratory experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience in gas chromatography is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including experience writing technical content and presenting at conferences.
  • Proven track record of method development, data analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally, including mentoring and customer engagement.
  • Commitment to safety, quality systems, and continuous improvement.

This position will require the successful completion of a standard background check in accordance with Restek policy. Employment with Restek will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
