Laboratory Technician
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team, that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
Successful candidates may have just completed their TAFE Laboratory skills and are looking to utilize their practical laboratory experience in a working laboratory, or you may have worked in a repetitive, fast-paced environment where you have had to ensure accuracy. Experience in hospitality or fast food, where you have juggled multiple tasks and followed processes is desirable.
This role is a full-time Monday to Friday day shift position (6am to 2.15pm), please advise of your availability when applying.
The day to day
Responsibilities include:
- Preparation and analysis of soil, water, and sediment – weighing, digesting, titrating, or solvent extraction of samples
- Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions
- Organizing designated tasks to maximize daily efficiencies
- Completing all tasks within both the timeframe set by the Supervisor and the relevant analysis standard
- Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour and reporting these to the supervisor.
The essentials
The successful candidate must possess the following skills and abilities:
- A genuine interest in the Science industry
- TAFE qualifications desirable but not essential
- A desire to work in a high-throughput, client-focused environment, with preference given to those with previous commercial laboratory experience
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
- Dedication to good laboratory practices with regard to quality of results and health and safety
- Flexibility to work public holidays and weekend shifts if required
- Willingness to be cross trained in other sections of the laboratory
- Dedication to go the extra mile, be solutions driven and ensure there is no compromise on quality
