Sample Preparer - Kalgoorlie

ALS Geochemistry seeks people to fill various roles within the Sample Preparation section currently available at our Kalgoorlie facilities. 

As a Sample Preparer, you will prepare mineral samples for laboratory analysis.  

These are Full-Time positions with the expectation that the successful candidate MUST be able to work on either:

  • 4 x day shifts, 4 x afternoon shifts/ night and 4 x days off roster, OR
  • 3 x day shifts, 3 x afternoon shifts/ night and 3 x days off roster, OR
  • 5 x days on and 2 days off

Base salary $48,500 - $55,200 pa plus shift penalties, site allowance and superannuation.

These are entry-level positions, and successful applicants will receive full training. Opportunities for multi-skilling within the department are available, with the potential for advancement into leadership roles.

This is a residential role, and you must be residing or planning on relocating to the Kalgoorlie Boulder Region with current Australian work rights to be considered.

The day to day

Responsibilities include:

  • Sorting bags of samples (weighing up to 10kg)
  • Operating mineral sample preparation equipment (weighing scales, crushers, pulverisers, etc) including Photon Assay and Roboprep
  • Performing routine manual tasking in a minerals processing environment
  • Collecting data for hyperspectral analysis

  • Ability to perform rotating shift work
  • Ability to follow set procedures
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Be willing to work as part of a high-performance team with a focus on quality and safety
  • Be reliable, physically fit, and prepared to carry out repetitive manual handling tasks
