Engineer II, Field Service
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking an ambitious and proven Engineer II, Field Service to join our outstanding team in Chennai.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform technical service, installation, operation, training, demonstration, and repair of specialised analytical equipment including GCMS, GC analyzers, and GC in the Gas Chromatography product line. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of specific informative requirements.
- Undertake product installation at client premises and demonstrate features related to 21 CFR compliance under the CDS software.
- Deliver training and technical advice on instrument use, both in person and by phone, ensuring optimum performance of the system.
- Investigate difficulties and solve faults arising from operation or utilization.
- Resolve problems, suggest solutions, or arrange for repairs to be made.
- Act as a vital link between customers and Sales and Marketing.
- Supervise repairs and make suggestions for product improvements.
- Perform planned maintenance calls and regular customer visits.
- Make recommendations for spare parts requirements and assist with equipment monitoring.
- Achieve assigned spares and service revenue targets by promoting contracts, PM kits, instrument upgrades, and software upgrades.
- Extensive traveling within the territory, with potential travel outside the territory if needed.
Keys to Success
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Bachelor of Technology in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent communication abilities to effectively engage with individuals both within and outside the organization.
- Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation.
- Self-motivated and proactive in technical and support approach.
- Collaborate closely with customers to understand their pain areas and act as a consultant between the organization and the customer to achieve regional commercial goals.
- Build rapport with customers and educate them about maintenance contract entitlements and the annual procurement of PM kits to improve system availability.
