The parallel programme features (business) seminars, courses, group meetups, and more, complementing the core programme to enhance your experience. Popular events like the Student Lunch Seminar and Job Event provide informal settings to foster connections and spark meaningful discussions.

Whether it’s a networking session, an interest group meeting or a business seminar, you can request space for any of your activities and engage with the SETAC community during the meeting. Request your activity space through the Room Request Form by 1 April.

Parallel Program

Training Courses

Training courses are planned on the Sunday of the meeting to provide educational opportunities to the membership and guests. The focus is on selecting cutting-edge and general scientific topics of interest. In addition, non-scientific courses that support skills necessary for scientists to succeed, for example, communication or presentation skills, are offered. The deadline to submit training course proposals usually falls end October/begin November, to allow sufficient time for planning and review by the SETAC Europe Education Committee.

SETAC Seminars

SETAC Seminars give room to SETAC groups to introduce, educate or discuss specific topics or projects. For example, the “Student Lunch Seminar” or IG seminars have been popular for years. SETAC Seminar proposals can be submitted through the room booking form. For seminars taking place on Sunday, 11 May, proposals should be submitted by 15 December, to allow sufficient time for planning and are reviewed by the  Programme Committee. Seminar proposals happening on the other days of the conference can be submitted by 1 April.

If you plan a technical workshop or symposium, please review the SETAC Events Matrix for more information.

Sponsored Seminars

These events are planned by non-SETAC groups featuring a guest speaker presenting topics of interest to meeting attendees.

Networking Events

These are semi-formal events to provide networking opportunities for meeting attendees. They include socials, such as “Student Career Networking Lunch,” and other types of events, such as the “Job Event.” These are proposed by SETAC Committees and organised in collaboration with the office.

Group Meetups

The annual meeting includes many informal group meetups aimed at gathering people with similar interests for engagement opportunities, like the “Meeting Guide Programme.” We encourage SETAC Regional Branches and Chapters, Committees, Interest Groups and Affinity Groups to hold more informal group meetups to facilitate networking and engagement opportunities at the meeting instead of administrative meetings. Those could, for example, be organised at the SETAC Square.

Business Meetings

SETAC supports its members (e.g., Committees, Regional Branches and Chapters, Interest Groups and Affinity Groups) and other organisations by allowing them to book rooms at the venue for business meetings.

Training Courses

On Sunday, 11 May 2025, a variety of training courses will be offered before the opening of the meeting.

Course registration is open to members and guests. Make sure to register by the early bird deadline, to ensure that your preferred course will take place. Please note that training courses will be held onsite in Vienna and will not be recorded.

Be Aware of “Housing Pirates”

Please note, the SETAC-authorized housing partner, Maritz, will NOT contact you about the SETAC annual meeting hotels or housing.

While other hotel resellers may contact you to offer accommodation for your trip, they are not endorsed by or affiliated with this event. These are companies that phone or email attendees and exhibitors, claiming to offer good deals on hotel rooms. They may falsely claim to be affiliated with SETAC. If you provide your credit card information to one of these companies (commonly referred to as “housing pirates” or “housing bandits”), your card may be charged and you might not have a hotel room when you arrive in Seville.

SETAC has confirmed that multiple “housing companies” or “housing wholesalers” such as Exhibitors Housing Management and Exhibition Housing Management, who are not affiliated with SETAC or this year’s annual meeting, have continued contacting exhibitors and members, asking to book hotel rooms through them for the meeting.

The official SETAC Europe accommodation partner is Congrex Switzerland Ltd. You will not be contacted directly by them unless there is a question about your existing reservation. Unless you have initiated the communication, please do not provide anyone with your personal information, especially your credit card number.

For the best customer service and guaranteed hotel rooms, attendees and exhibitors can book hotels through the link on this page. No SETAC-authorised organisation will contact you about the SETAC annual meeting hotels or housing.

Please be wary about booking hotels through unauthorised sources that contact you, as there is no guarantee you will have a room upon your arrival in Seville.

If you are contacted by someone asking if you need a room at SETAC, or if they represent themselves as the “SETAC Housing Bureau,” please get as much information as you can, such as the name of the company, the person calling and their telephone number — then contact SETAC at [email protected]
