Parallel Program Event Types
Meetings and Mixers
SETAC supports member groups (e.g., regional chapters, committees, and interest and affinity groups) and external groups (e.g., business or non-profit organizations) in scheduling meetings and socials at the annual meeting.
SETAC Interest Group general membership meetings are best held at the end of the scientific program schedule in a room with theater style seating while steering committee administrative meetings are best held in a room with U-shaped seating.
SETAC group mixers are best held in the new SETAC Groups area in the Exhibit Hall, where refreshments are provided, for added visibility.
Seminars
SETAC sponsors, committees and groups plan for a guest speaker to address attendees. The “SETAC Student Noontime Seminar” and “Women in SETAC” have been popular for years. Seminar proposals are requested by the end of the first half of the calendar year to allow sufficient time for planning.*
Mini-workshops
Mini-workshops help participants develop their soft career skills and are planned for the day before the meeting. They are planned by SETAC committees and groups, and topics may include science communication, interviewing skills, resume writing, project management, etc. Mini-workshop proposals are requested by the end of the first half of the calendar year to allow sufficient time for planning.*
*Requests due early to accommodate extensive planning requirements.
Professional Training Courses
The purpose of professional training courses is to provide educational opportunities to the membership and guests. The focus is on selecting cutting-edge and general scientific topics of interest. In addition, non-scientific courses that support skills scientists might need to succeed, for example communication or presentation skills, are offered. The courses are taught by experts in the field.
Reserve your spot in a professional training course when you register for the meeting.
Please note, training courses will be presented on site in Fort Worth and will not be recorded.

Abstract Submission
Late-breaking science abstract submission is now open. Submit an abstract for a US$50 processing fee by 14 August.
Submit an Abstract
Late-breaking abstract submission gives participants a chance to present recent and on-going research. As the main program is already being developed, late-breaking abstracts are featured in a separate session within each track (for example, Track 1. Environmental Toxicology and Stress Response, Session: Late-Breaking Submissions). All accepted late-breaking abstracts will be presented as in-person poster or virtual-only presentations.
The deadline to submit a late-breaking abstract is 14 August. The scientific program committee will review abstracts periodically and will notify presenters as quickly as possible.
For questions, please contact [email protected].
Please Note
- You do not need to be a SETAC member to submit an abstract; however, you will need to have an account in our database. You can create an account (free guest or paid member) on the SETAC website, which you can use to submit an abstract or register for a SETAC meeting.
- After the initial deadlines, late-breaking science abstracts will be accepted for a small fee.
- Submissions will be reviewed by the abstract review committee and you will be notified via email about acceptance.
- All presenters must register for the meeting, pay applicable registration fees and attend the meeting.

Hotels
Housing is now open. Book your hotel room in the SETAC housing block by 26 September.
Book Your Room
The Importance of Staying in the SETAC Room Block
The importance of reserving a hotel room using the official SETAC housing block cannot be stressed enough. SETAC makes every effort to keep expenses for participants as low as possible, and we are proud to announce that rates at SETAC contracted hotels will range from $189–$219 per night plus tax. We work with cities and convention centers to secure discounted hotel room rates for our attendees. Additionally, the group booking helps us negotiate discounted rates at the convention center, which as a non-profit organization, we pass on to our meeting attendees through lower registration fees. So when you reserves a room, we urge you to use the official SETAC housing block to help SETAC provide affordable rates for this and future meetings.
Be Aware of “Housing Pirates”
Please note, the SETAC-authorized housing partner, Maritz, will NOT contact you about the SETAC annual meeting hotels or housing.
While other hotel resellers may contact you to offer accommodation for your trip, they are not endorsed by or affiliated with this event. These are companies that phone, fax or email attendees and exhibitors, claiming to offer good deals on hotel rooms. They may falsely claim to be affiliated with SETAC. If you provide your credit card information to one of these companies (commonly referred to as “housing pirates” or “housing bandits”), your card may be charged, and you might not have a hotel room when you arrive in Fort Worth.
SETAC has confirmed that multiple “housing companies” or “housing wholesalers” such as Exhibitors Housing Management and Exhibition Housing Management, who are not affiliated with SETAC or this year’s annual meeting, have continued contacting exhibitors and members, asking to book hotel rooms through them for the meeting.
The official SETAC housing bureau is Maritz. You will not be contacted directly by Maritz unless there is a question about your existing reservation. Unless you have initiated the communication, please do not provide anyone with your personal information, especially your credit card number.
Please be wary about booking hotels through non-authorized sources that contact you as there is no guarantee you will have a room upon your arrival in Fort Worth.
If you are contacted by someone asking if you need a room at SETAC, or if they represent themselves as the “SETAC Housing Bureau,” please get as much information as you can, such as the name of the company, the person calling and their telephone number — then contact [email protected].
