This role ensures that automation platforms, workflow software (LIMS/ELN/LES), liquid handling systems, and integrated customer workflows meet performance, reliability, compliance, and interoperability requirements. This role partners closely with R&amp;D, Product Management, Systems Engineering, Program Management, and external partners to establish a scalable automation quality strategy.</p><h4><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h4><h5><strong>Quality Strategy &amp; Leadership</strong></h5><ul><li>Define and execute the APS quality and test strategy across hardware, software, and integrated workflow solutions.</li><li>Build and lead a global quality engineering organization aligned to APS growth priorities.</li><li>Drive quality culture, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.</li><li>Drive shift-left mindset.</li></ul><h4><strong>Automation &amp; Continuous Testing</strong></h4><ul><li>Lead implementation of automated testing capabilities across software and workflow solutions.</li><li>Drive continuous integration and continuous test execution practices.</li><li>Improve test coverage, release velocity, defect containment, and predictability.</li><li>Support Agile development teams with embedded quality engineering practices.</li></ul><h4><strong>Ecosystem Interoperability</strong></h4><ul><li>Define validation approaches for multi-vendor automation environments.</li><li>Ensure products comply with automation readiness standards and interoperability requirements.</li><li>Validate integrations with partner instruments, robotics, software platforms, and orchestration layers.</li><li>Support ecosystem partnership programs through qualification and certification</li></ul><h4><strong>Program Execution</strong></h4><ul><li>Partner with Product Managers and Engineering leaders to establish release quality objectives and success criteria.</li><li>Provide executive visibility into product quality, risks, and release readiness.</li><li>Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities for significant quality events.</li><li>Support strategic initiatives including automation readiness, orchestration capabilities, and autonomous workflow programs.</li></ul><h4><strong>Regulatory &amp; Compliance</strong></h4><ul><li>Ensure applicable software and automation products comply with relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards, such as CFR 21part 11</li><li>Drive validation documentation, audit readiness, and traceability practices.</li><li>Partner with Quality and Regulatory organizations on risk-based testing approaches.</li></ul><h4><strong>Qualifications</strong></h4><ul><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Bioengineering, or related discipline.</li><li>10+ years of experience in software testing, systems validation, automation engineering, or quality management.</li><li>3+ years of leadership experience.</li><li>Experience leading global cross-functional teams.</li><li>Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies and software development lifecycles.</li><li>Experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD environments.</li><li>Demonstrated success driving quality improvements in complex product portfolios.</li></ul><h4><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></h4><ul><li>Experience with laboratory automation, robotics, liquid handling, analytical instrumentation, or scientific software.</li><li>Experience validating integrated hardware-software systems.</li><li>Experience with risk-based testing of software with high degrees of freedom or complex compatibility matrices.</li><li>Experience embedding AI technology in software testing.</li><li>Knowledge of cloud platforms, APIs, workflow orchestration, and SaaS applications.</li><li>Understanding of regulated environments and computerized system validation.</li><li>Familiarity with AI-enabled software products and autonomous workflow systems.</li></ul><h4><strong>Additional Details</strong></h4><p>This job has a full time weekly schedule. It includes the option to work remotely. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
