<p>The Analytical Chemist will function as a key member of the Process Development Service Team. You will be responsible for providing analytical expertise and technical support for all phases of drug development. This will include supporting the analytical aspects of route development and proof of concept of new and existing manufacturing routes for APIs. You will focus on the development of analytical methods for ad hoc investigations and process development. You will be expected to work as part of a team and across functions, while doing so you would be expected to review current practices with the target of using Practical Process Improvements (PPI) to help identify improvements and business cost savings.</p>

<li><p>Provide technical expertise and analytical support for the introduction of new products to the Cork site, including method development. At times it will be necessary to support the Analytical Development group prior to method validation.</p>

Our global team of more than 100,000 colleagues delivers an outstanding combination of innovative technologies, purchasing convenience, and pharmaceutical services through our industry-leading brands, including Thermo Scientific, Applied Biosystems, Invitrogen, Fisher Scientific, Unity Lab Services, Patheon, and PPD.</strong></p><h3><strong>Associate Scientist</strong></h3><p>As Associate Scientist Pharma you will <span>perform a variety of routine to complex sample preparation and analysis procedures to quantitatively measure pharmaceutical compounds in a variety of formulations.</span></p><h4><strong>A day in the Life</strong></h4><ul><li>Follows validated or experimental analytical procedures with periodic direct supervision.</li><li>Responsible for review and compilation of results and data comparison against SOP acceptance criteria, methodology, protocol and product specifications.</li><li>Problem solves with assistance pertaining to extraction and/or instrumentation problems.</li><li>Trains on routine operation, maintenance and theory of analytical instrumentation, SOPs and regulatory procedures and guidelines.</li><li>Handles QC/QA responsibilities without supervisor or QA input.</li><li>Communicates project status to project leader.</li><li>Performs work assignments accurately, and in a timely and safe manner.</li><li>Reviews, interprets, and analyzes data for technical, quality and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).</li><li>Performs self and peer review of the data for accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements prior to submission to QA and issuance to customers.&nbsp;</li></ul><h4><strong>Keys to Success</strong></h4><h5><strong>Education &amp; Experience</strong></h5><ul><li>B.S./B.A. in Chemistry or related field with of 1 years’ experience in analytical testing laboratory.</li><li>1+ years in an analytical environment with experience utilising HPLC&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Other techniques should include&nbsp;GC, KF, UV-Vis, FT-IR, etc.</li><li>Ideally experience with device testing, using materials testing systems, <span>for pre-filled syringes and auto-injectors would be a bonus</span></li></ul><h5><strong>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities</strong></h5><ul><li>Knowledge of applicable regulatory authority, compendium and ICH guidelines</li><li>Ability to understand and independently apply GMPs and /or GLPs to everyday work with regard to documentation and instrument use</li><li>Ability to utilise Microsoft Excel and Word to perform tasks</li><li>Ability to independently optimise analytical methods</li><li>Good written and oral communication skills</li><li>Time management and project management skills</li><li>Proven problem solving and troubleshooting abilities</li><li>Ability to work in a collaborative work environment with a team</li></ul><h5><strong>Work Environment</strong></h5><p>Thermo Fisher Scientific values the health and wellbeing of our employees.
