The Agilent 6890 is an advanced gas chromatograph that provides excellent performance for all types of applications.

Key to its performance is the use of advanced electronic pneumatic control (EPC) and precision temperature control modules. Each EPC module is optimized for use with a specific inlet or detector.
The 6890 gas chromatographs' precision oven temperature control allows for fast and accurate temperature rise, ensuring optimal chromatography, symmetrical peaks, repeatable retention times and retention index accuracy. The combination of precision pneumatic control (EPC) and accurate temperature delivers excellent repeatability of retention times, which are the foundation of all chromatographic measurements.
A range of common valves for gas sample dispensing or column switching are available. A new high performance inert splitter with EPC switching is available for a range of advanced chromatographic applications (2-D heart cutting, flow splitting/splitting, etc.). Agilent GC systems are known for their reliability, robustness and long life.
The gas chromatograph configuration can have up to 2 standard inlets.
All detectors include EPC and electronic on/off for all gases in the detector.
A Flame ionization detector (FID) that reacts to most organic compounds.
Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD), a universal detector that reacts to all compounds except the carrier gas.
Electron Capture Detector (micro-ECD), a very sensitive detector for electrophilic compounds such as halogenated organic compounds.
Nitrogen and phosphorus selective detector (NPD), a detector specific for compounds containing nitrogen or phosphorus.
Flame Photometric Detector (FPD), a sensitive detector specific for sulphur or phosphorus containing compounds.
Mass Detector (MS), a versatile highly sensitive detector with the ability to identify analytes by characteristic mass spectra.
The system includes the standard ALS 7683 interface. It provides power and communication for up to two 7683 automatic injectors, one automatic sample dispenser and a barcode reader.
Depending on the model and system configuration, LAN communication is available and the system can be controlled by a variety of current and legacy Agilent Technologies software (OpenLab, ChemStation) or universal third party software such as Clarity (DataApex).
